Rueda is a region consisting of 74 municipalities in the community of Castilla y León.
This wine region boasts a continental climate. Situated between 700 and 870 meters above sea level, the flat but elevated terrain endures cold, prolonged winters, brief springs punctuated by late frosts, and hot, dry summers. The dramatic swings in temperature between day and night play a key role in achieving the perfect balance of sugar and acidity in the grapes.
The soil in Rueda is rich in calcium and magnesium, and it is characterized by good aeration and drainage, with an abundance of stones. Limestone outcrops at higher elevations of the undulating terrain. The soil pH levels range from 7 to 8.
