Nestled in the heart of Italy, the Umbria region is renowned for its lush landscapes, verdant hills, and rich cultural heritage. Among its treasures lies the Colli Perugini DOC, that shares a border to the west with Colli del Trasimeno, to the southeast with Colli Martani and to the south with Todi.
The environment of Colli Perugini is distinct, characterized by rolling hills that cradle vineyards, nourished by a temperate climate and mineral-rich soils. These attributes provide an ideal setting for the growth and maturation of a range of grape varieties, each contributing to the region's eclectic wine repertoire.
When it comes to reds, Cabernet Sauvignon stands tall, producing wines with depth and character. Merlot offers a softer, velvety profile, while Pinot Nero adds elegance and refinement. Sangiovese, a native Italian variety, brings forth wines teeming with cherry notes and a vibrant acidity.
White wines from the region are equally captivating. Chardonnay, with its creamy texture, often reveals apple and pear undertones, making it a favorite among many. Grechetto, another indigenous variety, offers floral aromatics combined with a crisp palate. Pinot Bianco and Pinot Grigio, though different in profile, both deliver fresh and zesty wines. Lastly, Trebbiano, a staple in Italian viniculture, produces wines with delicate fruitiness, complementing the region's diverse palette.
In Colli Perugini DOC, the harmony between environment and vine finds its fullest expression, making each bottle a testament to Umbria's enchanting wine legacy.
