about this subregion

Moscadello di Montalcino DOC stands as a testament to Italy's deep-rooted vinicultural history, nestled within the verdant valleys and rolling hills of Tuscany. This region is predominantly recognized for its illustrious Brunello di Montalcino, but it also shelters the lesser-known, yet equally compelling, Moscadello di Montalcino, a wine bestowed with the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) status.

The environment of Montalcino offers an ideal terroir for wine cultivation. With its moderate climate, influenced by the Tyrrhenian Sea, and well-draining soils rich in clay and limestone, vines here are nurtured under optimal conditions. These factors contribute to the unique flavor profiles and characteristics found in wines originating from this region.

At the heart of Moscadello di Montalcino DOC is the Moscato grape, the most planted white grape variety of the area. This grape, with its vibrant aromas of peach, nectarine, and orange blossom, produces wines that are fragrant and pleasantly sweet. When vinified, Moscato grapes yield wines that strike a harmonious balance between freshness and sweetness, making them an exquisite accompaniment to desserts or a delightful drink on their own.

In essence, Moscadello di Montalcino DOC is a reflection of both its pristine environment and the passionate dedication of its winegrowers, presenting wine connoisseurs with a sweet sip of Tuscany's tradition and excellence.
