The Cortona DOC is part of the Tuscany wine region, and covers wines produced within the territory of Cortona, located in the province of Arezzo. Established in the spring of 2000, the Consortium tirelessly works to control, protect, and promote Cortona DOC wines, maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality and a deep devotion to showcasing the uniqueness of Cortona, its territory, and its unrivaled wines to the world.
In this region, the climate is mostly temperate-cool, with continental influences during the summer resulting in high temperatures and a greater influence of the sun on the vines. In addition, the average annual rainfall is usually between 700 and 900 mm.
This region has soil with tectonic depressions due to the genesis of the Apennines. On the other hand, the soil is composed mainly of sand, silt and fine clay deposits.
