Nestled in the southernmost part of Tuscany, Capalbio DOC epitomizes the perfect interplay between the environment and viticulture. The region’s terroir boasts a unique composition, providing a fertile ground for vineyards to flourish, coupled with a favorable climate that ensures optimal grape maturation. The gentle sea breezes, undulating hills, and the abundant Mediterranean sunshine converge to create a distinctive microclimate, where vines not only grow but thrive.
Among the vast expanse of vineyards in Capalbio DOC, two red grape varieties dominate the landscape: Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. The former, with its rich, full-bodied profile, finds in this region the ideal environment to develop its characteristic deep flavors and robust tannins. Sangiovese, on the other hand, stands as a true testament to Italian winemaking tradition, delivering wines with a delightful balance of fruitiness and earthy undertones.
Equally captivating are the white grape varieties of the region. Trebbiano, known for its crisp and refreshing nature, is complemented by the aromatic and mineral-rich Vermentino. Both grapes, when cultivated in the bountiful environment of Capalbio DOC, produce wines that reflect the essence of the region – a harmonious blend of tradition and terroir.
In sum, Capalbio DOC offers a profound experience for oenophiles, where the environment plays an intrinsic role in shaping the character and quality of its wines, making each sip a celebration of its origin.

The Capalbio DOC is located in southern Tuscany, in the hills and foothills present to the south of the province of Grosseto, covering part of the municipalities of Capalbio, Manciano, Magliano and Orbetello.
In this region, the vineyards tend to be oriented towards the sea, favouring greater sun exposure and ripeness for the grapes. In addition, the sea helps moderate temperature extremes and provides breezes to reduce the likelihood of vine disease.
