The Albugnano DOC is located in the Piedmont wine region, and covers the municipalities of Albugnano, Pino d' Asti, Castelnuovo Don Bosco and Passerano Marmorito in the province of Asti. Albugnano DOC, nestled in Italy's Piedmont region, shares its borders with notable wine areas. To the northwest, it is bordered by the Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco DOC, renowned for its aromatic sweet wines. Surrounding Albugnano to the south, east, and northeast is the Freisa d'Asti region, famous for its unique and versatile Freisa wines, ranging from dry to sweet and still to sparkling varieties.

This DOC has a warm climate, with somewhat high temperatures for vine growing. However, the presence of many forests and the high hills (in some cases can exceed 400 meters high) help to moderate the climate, cooling it so the vines can develop in a more suitable climate.

In this region, the soils are located on loams from the Miocene period. In addition, the soils are light-coloured, medium-textured and have steep slopes. The vineyards are located on the slopes best exposed to air currents and sunlight.
