A relatively less-explored wine region, Molise presents an environment where the gentle caress of the Adriatic Sea meets the rugged embrace of the Apennine Mountains. The red wines of Molise are anchored by illustrious grape varieties such as the rich and structured Aglianico and the bold Montepulciano. The Molise DOC is located in the Molise wine region. The vineyards are spread between the provinces of Isernia and Campobasso.
In this region, we can find two types of climate:
On the one hand, the vineyards located in Campobasso are exposed to a more continental climate, with an average temperature of 12°C.
On the other hand, the vineyards located in Isernia enjoy a more temperate climate.
The Molise DOC region boasts a diverse array of soils, ranging from clay and limestone to sandy and volcanic compositions. These intricate soils contribute to the unique character of the wines produced, imbuing them with a rich tapestry of mineral nuances and flavors that reflect the region's terroir and contribute to the distinctiveness of Molise's viticultural offerings.

The Molise DOC region presents a captivating range of wines that showcase the diverse and rich viticultural heritage of the area. Chardonnay, a prominent white variety, takes center stage with a minimum of 85% Chardonnay grapes, harmoniously blended with other authorized white companions. This Chardonnay reveals a symphony of flavors, from crisp citrus to subtle orchard fruits, embodying the essence of the land.
Rosato, a delightful expression of Molise's terroir, highlights the Montepulciano grape variety, constituting at least 85% of the blend, accompanied by other authorized red companions. With a beautiful pale hue, this Rosato wine unfolds on the palate with vibrant red fruit notes, offering a refreshing and inviting sip.
Rosso, another star of Molise, showcases the renowned Montepulciano grape in a minimum 85% composition, blended with other authorized red varieties. The resulting red wine is a testament to the region's artistry, revealing a captivating interplay of dark fruit flavors and a touch of earthiness.
The Spumante Bianco, a sparkling gem, embodies Molise's innovation and dedication to crafting exceptional wines. A minimum of 50% Chardonnay, Falanghina, Fiano, Malvasia, Montepulciano (vinified as a white wine), Moscato Bianco, Pinot Bianco, and/or Pinot Grigio grapes contribute to its effervescent charm. This Spumante delights the senses with fine bubbles, presenting an exquisite bouquet of aromas that dance on the palate.
Lastly, the Passito wine captures the essence of Molise's sun-soaked vineyards. Comprising a minimum of 85% Falanghina or Moscato Bianco grapes, blended with other authorized white varieties, this luscious nectar reveals a symphony of dried fruit and honeyed notes, offering a decadent finale to an exploration of Molise's diverse wine landscape.
