about this subregion

Nestled in the captivating landscapes of Southern Italy, the Penisola Sorrentina DOC is an emblematic wine region that encapsulates the true essence of its Mediterranean environment. Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, the region's climate is blessed with mild winters and warm, sun-kissed summers, punctuated by sea breezes. This unique maritime influence, combined with the area's volcanic soils, bestows a distinctive minerality and freshness upon the wines.

Among the vineyards that undulate across its terrains, certain grape varieties have emerged as particular favorites. When it comes to reds, Aglianico stands out, known for its robust structure and deep, berry-rich profiles. It often mingles in blends with Piedirosso, a grape that adds a touch of softness and bright red fruit nuances. Sciascinoso, with its aromatic finesse, further elevates the complexity of these blends.

White wines from the region echo the crispness of coastal air. Biancolella shines with its floral hints and zesty citrus core, often reminiscent of the region's fragrant lemon groves. Falanghina, a grape with ancient roots, brings forth wines with tantalizing notes of apple, pear, and hints of almond. Greco completes the trifecta, offering wines with a harmonious blend of fruitiness and minerality, capturing the spirit of the land.

Together, these grape varieties, cultivated in the embrace of the Penisola Sorrentina's environment, produce wines that are not only a delight to the palate but also a testament to the region's rich viticultural heritage.
