The Consorzio di Tutela Vini Lugana was created in 1990 not only to promote and defend the Lugana appellation of origin, created in 1967, but also to protect the interests of the 216 producers who every day decide to bet on the production of wine under the DOC Lugana.
The efforts of the DOC are focused on two fundamental aspects for the growth and strengthening of the DOC:
- On the one hand, the protection of producers from various threats, such as unfair competition or the fluctuations of an increasingly volatile market. To this end, it pursues policies aimed at reducing downward price trends.
- On the other hand, the consortium carries out actions aimed at promoting the DOC among potential consumers. These actions involve participation in national and international fairs, as well as the organization of DOC events where consumers can meet the people behind each DOC Lugana wine, as well as taste each of these wines.
